Labor Day

“Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it.”

— Psalm 127:1

In this case the “house” I’m concerned with is America.

Abandon God and He will abandon you.

A dreadful, repeated blunder all around us today is that the “world” labors in vain when it excludes God, and that includes our elected “leaders” who, if they mention Him at all, do so as a perfunctory “God bless America” at the end of a speech — an allusion many times uttered even after refuting, disputing and undermining His Commandments.

They call evil “good” and good “evil.” They turn their backs on Him and then invoke His name:

• Abortion is a “right” and every woman should be able to “terminate” their child, even when birth is imminent… “God bless America.”

• Everyone must be immunized by this experimental drug, or get fired from their job… “God bless America.”

• We must legalize and celebrate men marrying men and women marrying women… “God bless America.”

• “We can’t allow teachers to have Bibles on their desks. It may brainwash a child… “God bless America.”

These are the ultimate in “taking God’s name in vain” and yet see when the sentiment is invoked. Even when a President demonizes and tells voters they should hate half their neighbors, he ends his speech with “God bless America.”

But associating the Creator with a sin is a dreadful sin itself.

The Lord God Almighty will not bless the breaking of any of His laws. And He will not bless any country that does so, especially as disdainfully and egregiously as ours.

Psalm 97:10a declares, “Hate evil, you who love the Lord.”

    1. Thank you, Bob. Since I remember, every President has evoked God’s name at the end of their speeches. I don’t recall anyone omitting It once… though I wouldn’t be surprised to hear Obama said “Allah bless America”…
