As a magazine and newspaper editor for 25 years (though I’m now retired) the Lord oftentimes speaks to me with headlines and these headlines are then followed by the story, or in my case: His lesson.
Well, that happened the other day on my birthday.
“Icing on the Cake” flashed to my mind and, of course, I love the icing even better than the cake, so I thought about this.
David wrote in Psalm 90:10 “The years of our life are seventy…”
So, every year beyond that age (a-hem, I’m not revealing) is “icing on the cake.”
Not only does God give us life and breath and love, He goes beyond that and grants believers the free gift of eternal life. Icing on the Cake.
Not only does He grant us health, He heals the “unhealable” like He did miraculously with me three years ago and on a few other occasions as well. Icing on the Cake.
He gives us a family and friends who love us. Icing on the Cake.
Times of celebration (like birthdays, anniversaries, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter). Icing on the Cake.
So, next time you have icing on your birthday cake, think how much more it symbolizes!
